Fun Times in Colorado

This past weekend we took a little trip to Colorado. It was tons of fun. We took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy going to the park for an unrestricted amount of time, walking by the river and feeding some fish. I adore the way children enjoy the simpliest of things. It was thoroughly enjoyable to say the least.

Hudson--Three months

The last 3 months are a complete blur and not even in a bad way. It has been kind of hectic but I finally feel like we've settled into our crazy and it's just normal now. And I love it. Being a mom is exactly how I always imagined my life would be. Adding another child to our family has been perfect.

Hudson, my man. You are something special. You are completely laid back and you just go with the flow. You're 3 months now. There was definitely a slight learning curve. You hated to be swaddled and you will not take a pacificer to save our life. Those were our two "aces" with Emilee so we had to learn some new tricks with you. Basically, just holding you does it. You're getting heavy though! You started off at 8 lbs 8oz, dropped to 7lb 15oz when we left the hospital. By 1 month, you were 10 lbs 2 oz and at 2 months you were 14 lbs 5 oz. I'm anxious to see how much you weigh next time we go to the doctor!

You had a head full of semi light colored hair when you were born. It gradually got darker and then lighter again and now it's falling out. You were born with the bluest eyes, just like your sister. They've lightened up some now but are still a shade of blue. We'll see if they stay that way :)

I love dressing you up and playing with you and just watching you sleep.

Love you sweet boy.

Sibling Love

I always wanted to have children fairly close in age. Having said that, I did have some reservations due to that fact that kids tend to fight and there's always the chance that one will be excessively jealous of the other. To be fair, we're only three months in, but I'm super happy that things are going great so far. We use to joke around that Hudson was late being born due to that fact that he heard Emilee and was scared to come out. But he absolutely adores her. I've never seen a small baby light up like he does when she is around. And she is so kind, gentle and affectionate with him. She smothers him with love. She says, "Baby Hudson so cute," and "I'm so proud of you." When he cries she says, "It's okay, mamas got you (referring to herself)."  Makes this mama's heart melt.

Here's the video of when we brought Hudson home from the hospital.

Pregnancy # 2

Piece of cake.

I'm not just saying that I ate lots of cake. I did that too of course but I thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant with you Mr. Hudson. At first I was really really scared that something was wrong because I felt so amazing. I secretly wanted to feel sick at the beginning because at least that would be a reminder that you were there. But I wasn't and it turned out to be okay. My pregnancy with you flew by. We could hardly wait to find out if you were a boy or a girl. I had a feeling you were a boy, simply because I felt so great.

12 week ultrasound of the wiggly little peanut :)

November 28th was the big day for the gender reveal!!!

28 week ultrasound. That cute face, ahhhh!

36 weeks! All squished up in my stomach :)

April 16th- Your due date. That day came and went. Without going into detail, I tried just about everything to get you to come out and you just wouldn't. So finally on April 23rd, they admitted me into the hospital and induced labor. I was extremely nervous to say the least. We were shocked when we learned that the same wife and nurse who delivered Emilee would be delivering you too. Pure coincidence! I went in at 11am, they started the meds by about 1pm and by 6:01pm that evening you were here. I LOVED giving birth to you. Yes, it was painful but only for a small amount of time. I found myself feeling like I could give birth again just a few days after you were born. Crazy! Needless to say, my recovery was just as easy as my pregnancy and delivery. Thank you sweet boy.

We immediately fell in love with all 8 lbs 8 oz of you. Since you came out so fast, your face was pretty smashed and bruised up. It went away very quickly though :)
 Check out all that hair!!!

Finally leaving the hospital:

Love you Hudson Everett.

Emilee--Two Years

---This draft has been in process since November, yes the month that passed over half a year ago. But big things have happened since then, hence the reason I'm just now posting. I'm finally getting back to writing. Lots more to come :) ---

Chatterbox chatterbox chatterbox. You are just like your Uncle Jared was at this age. You talk all.the.time. It's great though. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Funny things you do:

Tell me how to drive. Well kind of.
We'll be driving and you'll yell, that way that way! And when we don't turn you yell even louder, no that way that way! We're going to have to work on your backseat driving ;)

You love to tattle tale.
Believe it or not, you tattle on both the good things and the bad things that we do. If I get you cereal you run to tell daddy how nice I was for getting you cereal. If I tell you not to touch something or to stop doing something else, you also run to tell daddy that I'm being ever so mean to you. It's funny, most of the time.

You say "Thank You Mom,Dad, etc." ALL THE TIME, even when it's not even necessary. But that's one thing we're quite okay with.

You love the movie Frozen, which you actually refer to as, ElsaAnnaElsa.
We can't step foot inside a store without you spotting something Frozen related. Even Daddy knows all the words to every song from that movie too.

You are still a very picky eater. Probably more so than the last time I wrote. I'm constantly worrying that you're not getting enough nutritious food to eat. You still love fruit and pasta and a handful of veggies but some days you just don't eat much at all. I'm hoping it's just a phase and it passes very very soon.

We recently found out that you're going to have a baby BROTHER in April. We're excited that you're going to have a little buddy to grow up with! (Meet Hudson in the next post.)

I can hardly believe you are TWO years old. STOP GROWING PLEASE!!! Okay, I know that's impossible but part of me seriously does wish that I could keep you this age forever. You're the cutest little person I've ever laid eyes on and you'll stay that way until you're brother is here. And then you'll be one of the two cutest little people in my life :)

Photos from 2 years +/- a few months:

Love you sweet child.
